I took 4 yrs in high school and 1 year in college and still knew nothing until I went and did an intensive spanish program in Costa Rica for 3 months. You really have to throw yourself into the culture. I am pretty advanced now, but it will definetely be a lifelong learning process.

The canopy tour was one of the first things I did in Costa Rica and it was unbelievable. It’s a little bit scary, but sooo worth it. They give you a couple of practice lines before you get to the big ones(One of which is 260 ft above ground!) as well as a tarzan swinging and a rappel.
I am currently living and studying in San Jose, Costa Rica and have come to the conclusion for myself that Costa Rica is an amazing place to visit, but not to live. San Jose is very poor, so you have to watch out all the time which can be very inconvenient. Also, the city is very dirty and crowded. It is difficult to use your debit card most places(lines are down, they don’t accept mastercard, etc.) and many cities don’t have atm’s at all. Also, the cars are sooo loud and most cars have these ridiculous alarms. There are just so many inconveniences in day to day life. However if a person wanted a vacation house on the coast, that might be a different story.
