I have no clue where to start, but I was thinking about the same thing for a while now. It looks effortless on the tele etc, but I need to make an effort to show her that I really love her.
Quite a challenge!

Work with SQLite is a little fiddly (surprisingly), so I moved to MySQL – and today decided to simplify the setup, unistalled PHP, Apache and MySQL, and installed XAMPP – which is all of it together, easily controlled.
Now working on Model examples – already got a list of imaginary blog’s entries displayed :) Need to press on, and I have a project in my head that this could all be applied to.
This chapter was short but sweet, very simple concept. Models next – but I think it is enough for today, though, so will read it tomorrow or the day after.
Installed and configured Apache, PHP5 and CodeIgniter (no DB yet).
Read and tried some examples from the online help, two chapters so far – URIs and Controllers. Looks good, but need to know more!
Also, I need to come up with a test project to really try this framework on. I can’t study without a goal.
Sorry guys that I haven’t been reporting, but I’ve now probably done way more that 100 exercises, and I really love that it is more of a habit for me now.
Still, there is some laziness to beat every time, but I know that I will feel great if I do work out – so laziness is easier defeated :)
Was exercising almost non-stop, mostly about 30 minutes of pilates every morning. Also, spent 4 hours on Sunday walking in the mountain forests (Alps – beautiful!), which also definitely counts as a physical activity :)
Really bad pain in the lower back and hips since yesterday morning, so I did lots of stretching last night and this morning to try to fight it… seems better now, yet I think I shouldn’t stop at this and continue exercising, or else I will have the pain return in a day or two.
Still in business trips, and find it hard to keep up with the exercises. Nevertheless, managed to do half an hour of Pilates last week and twice this week already.
25 minutes of home-brewed Pilates. I am on a business trip this week, so will attempt doing pilates every morning.
After a break – 40 minutes of pilates, while watching Babylon-5. I hope I remembered all the exercises correctly, since I couldn’t bring myself to watching the pilates video again – it gets boring and discouraging looking at the same coach, saying the same things, all to the same music, again and again :)
After a break of pure laziness, I am trying to start again. 40 minutes of pilates this morning.
40 minutes of the “pilates” back-training exercises. Strangely, my stomach hurts more than the back after these, I guess the body is adjusting itself to create some sort of a balance.
Stretching etc last night, and 50 minutes with a “pilates” disk that my friend gave me (and I went straight into the “back exercises” section). Actually, it is pretty good. Not sure about the exercises themselves, they are very simple (though that may be an advantage too), yet even just following the coach, her timing, warm up and cool down phases, helped me be more efficient – and patient…
I may continue doing this “pilates” thing.
Some more stretching, sit-ups and jogging-on-one-place-in-front-of-the-tele-watching-Babylon-5 yesterday night. I was also hoping to get #5 down this morning, but my 3-month-old daughter was crying for large portion of the night, so I had no energy in the morning…
I did enjoy it for several months, but with the birth of second child I can no longer find a wide enough time window to continue going to the swimming pool.
May be, in two or three years, I will go back to doing it again…
Okay, as promised – a lot of stretching last night before going to bed (went really well!), and a lot of stretching this morning… very painful, though better than yesterday.
Can somebody recommend warm up exercises for the morning? What works well for you?
I had to take two weeks off from exercise because of severe backpain, but don’t think it is good to continue that trend, so today I made a weak attempt at going back to my usual routine of three-times per week morning exercise.
Well… it was painful. My son, sitting on the sofa and watching me, had to ask why I am not doing anything for most of the time – and I was just breathing slowly, trying to convince myself into starting a next set of movements.
I think that to overcome this I have to intensify it for at least some period, trying to stretch both in the evening and every morning. We’ll see how it goes.
Thanks for inviting me! :)
May be more features will be requested in the future, but for now the task is completed, the games are being recorded (when major tournaments are happening), and I even managed to optimise some of it significantly (by reading SQLite optimisation tips, and just refactoring some of the Ruby code).
It was a pleasure to work on this, and a good excersize for studying RoR :)
Since I don’t really need a domain, I don’t see a point in getting it just for fun.
May be later :)
My son started going to the kindergarten, and I have to take him there before a certain time – which suddenly solved the problem for me, I don’t have any problems in waking up to the alarm clock – because another person’s day depends on it :)
And I certainly think it is worth it!
