see Souleymane Diamanka & get a HUGE hug from him
**waves to Souleymane Diamanka if you ever see this PLEA**

Souleymane Diamanka’s poetry or as they call it SLAM poetry was introduced to me through the group, Les Nubains [I LOVE THEM]

On their third CD , Echoes, I heard Souleymane Diamanka’s voice and I think I have fallen in love with French poetry but only spoken by Souleymane. His voice …GOOD GOD his voice. It’s the most comforting, calming, relaxing, enlightening, therapeutic and hypnotic male voice I have ever heard.

And guess WHAT? He only speaks in French. Do I know what the man is saying? Not really, but you can feel what he is saying through his poetry. I’ve never been so enthralled by a poet like this except for Langston Hughes but OH MY GOSH…I think I am in love with this man’s voice.

When I go off on my tangents on how much I adore, love, respect and want you to experience the work of someone I adore, it is nothing about sex. I get so GOSH darn mad that everyone thinks about sex when I say how much I love a musician’s work, a visual artist’s work or a book that I read. I don’t think about sex all the time. I am human but I when I listen to Souleymane Diamanka, I think of my deceased friends, my deceased family members, my deceased grandmothers, my ancestors and so much about LIFE that I am grateful for.

Because of him, I’m learning French. I translate all his written messages through google translator or with my French dictionary. I am so excited to learn from him. I pray that one day I can hear him live and that I can get a hug from him. That’s my dream. I adore Souleymane Diamanka’s work!

I’ve written a few blogs on him on my blogs but it’s funny that he found one of my blogs here and I almost died that he found it:

By the way, I find it WILD that I am exactly ONE day older than him. He was born January 27, 1974. I was born January 26, 1974. Maybe he is my twin soul? I feel like he’s my relative!!

cut off ALL my hair & wear a short afro
My hair hasn't been THIS short since I was a NEWBORN

Sometimes I get so sick and tired of going to the hair salon and either getting my hair chemically straightened, pressed, curled, washed, etc. I couldn’t take it anymore. I was FED the F up. (excuse my lingo).

In 2007 the process of cutting my hair started. I said BYE to semi long hair, let’s go short. But hmm…the real reason was that I had alopecia and my hair was falling out in some places. At one point I thought I had cancer. I was terrified but I didn’t have it and I thank GOD for giving me the opportunity to be ALIVE and WELL.

Anyway, I found a fabulous hairdresser last year who cut my hair all the time and I was looking super UBER cute but I was getting tired of going to the salon every 2 weeks and not always looking decent. So, I said F that, I’m going to cut my hair super short and I’m going to wear a short afro/natural or whatever you want to call it. I love my NATURAL hair.

On my 36th birthday, guess what I did on January 26, 2010? I CUT OFF ALL my hair and THIS is the result (look up at the picture).

This is how I used to wear my hair:

Then I wore it like this (I really liked my hair like this)

But I like not having to worry about straightening my hair, curling it and being FREE. However, I may go back to doing that in the future but for now…I love my hair and I love me.

Here is a blog explaining more as to why I cut my hair off:

start a blog (read all 2 entries…)
It took me a long time but I've been blogging for 3 years but it took me 7 years to get there!

For a long time I wanted to blog but I was too afraid to open up. I’m naturally a loner. I do have a lot of friends but I prefer being bby myself and living within my head. This means that I have so much to say but I won’t say it because I’m fearful of so many things and it’s primarily people stealing my dreams, hopes, and taking advantage of things that I have shared.

Although I am not open like that on my blog, I do enjoy sharing things that I learn. I’m an avid reader and I read so much to the point that I sometimes fall asleep while reading. I read the paper, books or anything I get my hands on. I don’t have a best friend outside of my intermediate family so that’s why I like reading. It keeps me occupied. Reading is my friend!

I’ve found blogging and my BLOGS (yes, plural, I am OFF the chain) to be my best friend but it’s hilarious that I used to be TOO scared to blog or couldn’t keep it up, but now I can’t stop.

I don’t blog as much as I used to because it is so time consuming at times. But, I love that my blog is there if I need it. It’s my diary. I do know NOT to sharing my deepest emotions or feelings on there. That is something I will absolutely NOT do. That’s when I know I need to seek professional assistance!

Alright I know I have written a book on this but for me, blogging is therapeutic!!
