At the ripe old age of 50 I’ve decided I want to learn to swim. I’m not aiming for the Olympic Games in 2012 but if I can swim a length of the pool and enjoy it I’ll be very happy indeed. Today I learnt to float (ok with all sorts of bright blue paraphernalia to keep me up) and practiced blowing bubbles in the water to help me breathe. Not exactly dignified however it was a rewarding day.

How I did it: By accident! Stupidly saying at a BBQ I could do it easily.Despite being 48 years old and not fit at all at the time I did it slowly but surely.I registered for a charity event with a freind, told all my other friends early and asked them to sponsor me.I downloaded a training programme from the organisers of the event.Asked my hubby to nag me into sticking to my plan. Somehow I just didnt read anybook – always other things to do. But I’m not giving up.
Simply if my exercise is in balance with what I eat then I can eat as much lovely food as I like and still fit my clothes.
