I got injured after the first 8-10 weeks of training. I healed and continued training. My longest long-run was 18 miles. I trained for this while going thru a horrible time in my life. The fact that I was able to train through it and complete the marathon is a huge accomplishment for me. My time was acceptable, but the fact that I continued during the difficult time made this the most important race I’ve run.

How I did it: I tore an ad for the marathon out of Runner's World and taped it to the wall in my exercise room and in my bedroom. I visited the web site often and fantasized about the running race and finishing. I followed my training plan as best I could and modified it to fit around my injuries. I didn't give up.
