Another look at society through a book. Feh. I either just don’t like them or I shouldn’t be listening to them at the gym.

This was read by the same guy who read The Jungle. So, at first, hearing his voice in relation to the story of an immigrant family just made me cringe a bit. But, it wasn’t like The Jungle. (Phew!) I liked it. :)
Wow. Talk about not uplifting. These people just couldn’t catch a break. Don’t get me wrong, it was great. I liked it a lot. But, man, it was not uplifting.
Tada! I liked it. I listened to this one at the gym, so I was glad it was short. I didn’t know what to expect since the movie version I’d seen was a romance. This was not. :)
Well, this was really short. It’s just slight, I guess. It felt like frothy nothing. It’s about societal judgment and personal indiscretion. Feh.
Invisible Man is next.
But not quite there. The room needs to be repainted and the stuff put back into place. And, well…the stuff just moved to another room. I won’t call this done until the attic is cleaned out so that the stuff that keeps moving (untrashable, ungiveawayable) can be put up there.
I ran 18 miles a few days ago. I haven’t even checked how fast I did it yet. I just know I felt a lot better than I did at 16 miles a few weeks back. There was no whimpering.
I’ll be marathon ready in a few weeks!
I vacuumed and washed windows this weekend. Car is much cleaner. It wasn’t a disaster in the first place though. I call it done.
I did a half marathon in Inuvik (top of Canada) at night on the summer solstice. The sun never set. Picture taken at just after midnight!
I am dying (heart and lungs) when I do it, but I’m still running. I ran 8 miles on my long day last week and this week I’ll run 9.
It’s mainly the other running days that are awful. 40-45 minutes. I think that’s my wall. That length is so trying and I never get any faster. I have plenty of training left to go though. We’ll see!
I ran a full 7 miles today. Go me. Also? I broke 10 minute miles. My average speed was 9 minute, 45 second miles. I’m not consistent, but I have gotten faster. Practicing fast is good. :)
SEVEN MILES!
I give up on the challenge to do this. I will still do it, just not in time for the challenge. I’ve secretly known it all along and have already begun my punishment of pushups.
A – Amused – Apparently quite easily.
B – Bookish – I love to read. (As long at it’s fiction.)
C – Cook – I love bread.
D – Dog owner – because my sweetie is allergic to cats.
E – Expressive – People are amazing at my face when I tell stories.
F – Friend – because I am.
G – Grazer – I snack ALL DAY LONG.
H – Hard-working – Even if it sucks I will get it done for you. I might half-ass it if it’s for me. (Two H words!)
I – INFJ – Hooray for personality tests!
J – Judging – I’m a judger. Totally true. Unfortunately not quiet about it when I should be sometimes.
K – Klutz – oh yeah.
L – Librarian – because I am.
M – Modest – Well, you know…
N – Napper – because I love naps and everyone always says they are nice.
O – Open minded – I like having all the information while trying to keep my opinions out of it. Others have valid points too!
P – Procrastinator – I could be doing so many other things right now.
Q – Quiet – I like to be left alone sometimes.
R – Runner – I’ve run 2 5ks and in October(ish) I’ll run a marathon!
S – Sampler – I’m always “trying” things. I did ballet, violin, piano, flute, tennis, various martial arts, etc. I want to try fencing, cooking classes, programming… I’m a sampler. Never an expert, but enough knowledge to be dangerous.
T – Trail lover – One of those things I have sampled with my sweetie. When we vacation, we go on trails and such. Much fun.
U – Unsure – of myself from time to time.
V – Vegetarian – Eggs and Dairy only since about 12 years ago.
W – Wife – because I am. Also wary of others. I don’t like people trying to sell me things – even if it is themself.
X – Xerotic – as in eczema. Stupid skin.
Y – Yummy – Why not?
Z – Zoo visitor – you know, from time to time.
Somehow we keep getting things from our parents. Dear lord what else is left in their houses? I think they are just making things up now.
I’ve been maintaining pretty well. It’s not clean, per se, but it’s not as bad as it could be. I need to clean out the trunk a little further and delint the inside (my dog and his blanket shed) and then give it a good wash and sweep. It’s good that I’m maintaining though.
I am in a leadership program at work. This also totally counts as working on not worrying as much. As I build confidence in leading, I’ll have confidence in myself and not worry so much. See? Totally counts.
