I can’t wait until year 13 finishes; then I can escape the boredom of Cardiff FOREVER. Don’t get me wrong Cardiff is a nice enough place to live (the people are generally friendly, it’s clean and a good music scene) but after 17 years I NEED to try something different.

It’s easy to use sweeping statements like that, it’s especially easy to use them on a novel as acclaimed and well large as War and Peace. However, in all honesty, it really is the best book – bar none. I have never gone through such a huge range of emotions by reading a book (I’ve been through less living for 17 years in ,er, Cardiff). Some scenes are too poignant to describe, indeed, the whole novel’s hard to describe, because it’s so good. Engrossing, colossal, life-abducting, entertaining, blissful, delightful: these are only the adjectives I can think of now. Basically think of a positive adjective and it could be used to describe War and Peace. I haven’t even talked about the characters! I could talk about each individual for pages and pages (and there are over 50 characters in War and Peace). After I finished reading, I felt like I’d just awoken from a gorgeous six month-long dream where I’d been escorted to Moscow, St Petersburg and plenty of small scattered Russian towns, meeting and being shown all aspects of humanity; feeling and seeing an amazing part of history and the very point of our existence.
