Putting things, like keys, in the same place everyday is the best idea. However, if you know yourself well enough to realize this just won’t happen then I have another suggestion.
You need to use action and have a vivid picture. For example, when I set my keys on the TV I imagine that the TV BLOWS UP! It makes a loud popping sound and send shards of glass across the room and they hit me on the way, leaving welts on my arms. Then when I need my keys again, I ask myself “What happened when I set my keys down?” The mind works best with images and so I quickly recall the TV blowing up and I find my keys.
Does that make sense? Feel free to write back if you have questions. I work for a training company and our biggest seller is Memory Training. However we teach the skills during a seven-hour workshop so it is tough to sum up the ideas in such a short space.
