I went from Moscow to St Petersburg, and St Petersburg to East Germany on sleeper trains. The other passengers were wonderful and helpful, the scenery was enchanting, the tea was delightful. I got a surprise when I got up on the last journey to go to the loo, to discover that our carriage was up in the air (and the loo wasn’t)! We were changing to a different sized gauge apparently, and they moved us all with it! The only down side was getting arrested on the train back by Polish armed guards who took me to some sort of holding station and threw me in a cell. Apparently they wanted some hard currency off me to pay for my ‘visa’ (the visa they wanted wasn’t legally required). The people on the train had a whip round for me and got me out just in time to get back on the train.

How I did it: I just didn't get a telly, lol! I don't think I'd have the willpower to just cut down. I've not had a telly for years now, but I did miss films and documentaries at first. When DVDs came out I started getting films to watch on my computer, and then later on documentaries came out too. Now I can even get series if I want them, but I rarely get to hear about anything I'm interested in. I get one or two DVDs a m… Read how I did it…
How I did it: My main sticking point was not being able to afford a solicitor, and worrying about not getting it right if I did it myself. The turning point came when a friend told me she'd done hers and it was at a price I could afford. I contacted her solicitor and my partner and I arranged to see him. It didn't take us long to decide what we actually wanted to happen, and we went along for a chat about what needed to be done, he dr… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I go through phases of exercising, and not exercising, and my latest not-exercising phase was lasting too long. I'd been planning on getting rid of the car and biking instead, but kept telling myself 'I'll do it after I've.....'. I bought a bike, and went out on it a couple of times - oh but it was hard! I did a test run to work (on a day I wasn't working!) and it was too hard for me to cycle to work, work, and come back… Read how I did it…
