How I did it: I traveled to Ecuador and hired a guide with some friends. We went from Quito at 10000ft to the base at about 11000ft by ute. Then we hiked with packs to the refuge at about 13000ft. We had a meal and slept from 6 to 11. Then we got up, geared up and started off by midnight with headlamps. At about 14000ft we hit the glacier and began climbing with crampons and ice axes. At about 16500 the sun was coming up and my lowlander legs were shak… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I took a course at the local beach park. They had multiple boats and very knowledgable instructors. The weather was good, so it was relatively easy to do, but I still have a lot of vocabulary and concepts to learn. I plan on continuing in the rest of the 4 sailing courses they offer. It looks like I will start with baby steps. I’m taking a sailing lesson in the little Sunfish style boats this summer.
If I get the house that we are shopping for then I will be adopting 2 dogs, but one is getting on in years and when its time is up we are getting a greyhound.
