I've just become used to doing this... 3 years ago

...as I spend too much of my life on the computer. I think I use all ten fingers (though my pinkies aren’t called on that much), but I don’t type with all 10 in the traditional manner…

Buy a good LaTeX reference book.
I've used LyX for a lot... 3 years ago

...of work, but I know that if I had a good handle on LaTeX, I could use it much more powerfully. Getting a good reference seems like a good way to go.
