I have finished my PhD and now looking for a job. In fact, I am looking for a job that has no relation to my prior studies. I am looking for a job in the legal service or in a financial institute.
I strongly believe that I have the talent and expertise to handle the switch, and the necessary brand-name university for it. However, my two biggest issues are the current economic climate and my ability to sell myself to the interviewers. I do not find it comfortable to boast about my achievements to strangers and I could be a little too modest, I think. I have to learn to market myself and impress my interviewers in the shortest possible time.
How do I do this!?

I am keen to reduce the ‘want’s and ‘need’s from my life. I don’t need the latest gadgets or the coolest fashion on me. All I want is more life experiences. Travel a little more, see more things out there. Learn to appreciate a simple lifestyle.
I am not going to buy any new clothes unless necessary. (But I am thinking of getting a water proof jacket so that I can stay dry in the miserable weather during my cycling. But it doesn’t rain everyday. Do I seriously need it? How? ‘Thinking aloud’ mode.)
No more gadget! I have 2 note books, 1 iPod touch and a 2 years old Sony Ericsson mobile.
I am keeping one debit card and one credit card in my wallet. I have an oyster card for my daily commute.
Go to the gym at least 5 days a week, since I have an on-site gym. Why waste it, right?
Solve my Rubik cube!
And of course, work 8 hours a day, no over-time!
A simple life starts with a simple day, isn’t it?
