In May I began dating Karen. She took me on the best date I’ve ever had by surprising me with a golf lesson. While warming up for our hour lesson in the covered stalls at the driving range I hit a ball straight up in the air. The ball went straight up and bounced through the rafters. Karen heard the noise and turned around while I tried to play it off as if it was not my ball. However, due to my unfortunate luck as she looked at me trying to play it cool, the ball bounced down BEHIND me and hit the bench. It took about 5 minutes of bent over laughter for us to calm down enough to be able to swing the club again.

Pat the Pro gave us a lot of really good pointers and helped fix some of our glitches. Even though Karen had the “perfect grip,” I did a lot of things right. All it took was a little sucking up and a lot of questions for me to end up with quite a bit of homework on how to improve my game. Overall it was an amazing day, and one of the coolest things anyone has ever done for me.

One of my best friends recently moved to NOLA. This was the perfect chance to take in the real Mardi Gras. I have to admit that I have never been to a place quite like New Orleans. It is easily the dirtiest city I have ever visited. However, it was also the most laid back experience of my life.

I can’t say that I have ever been to a place with no open container law and allows alcohol pretty much anywhere on the streets.

In many ways I think I had an overblown expectation for the craziness that I would experience. And yet it almost met them.

If you do it, do it with your single friends. I had great people with me. But they were coupled up and I often felt that everyone was afraid to get a little crazy with their significant other present. However, their apprehensiveness only emboldened me. This made for some great stories.

- Catching beads at the parades and being sealed off from half of the city

- Miles nearly killing at least two people
- Daiquiri shops on every corner
- Our ghost tour and the ridiculously bad tour guide

- Jason has the tolerance of a cow
- Touchdown Jesus
- Clearing Bourbon Street and Midnight
- Several adventures through the ghetto
- Cooter Browns and Bodem Balls
- Giants upset the Patriots in the Super Bowl

- I cannot remember a thing from half of Monday Night! Thanks to the Hurricane.

It was an amazing time.
