I just finished an MS in clinical nutrition, I thought it would just happen after that. But now having trouble getting started. I was bruoght up to work for the “system” and I think that might be why I am having trouble being self-motivated to start my own thing. Also the course wasn’t very practical, and had no internship or clinical experience requirement, so I have to figure all that out myself.
Nutrition and health is such a jungle now and so many conflicting ideas, that makes it much harder to figure out what to do and how to do it. I’d like to be able to trust the basis of all I’ve ben told but unfortunately I can’t becaue there’s so much coruption and pseudo science, but I can’t validate everything myself even if I wasn’t lazy. Just have to play it by ear and try different things. At present I’m offering free consultation so I can get some experience, and I do have one “real” case of someone who’s had bad fatigue for about 20 years.
I’ve been checking out Ray Peat articles on his site in the last few days (after seeing his presentation at an event last year), that is some radical stuff and really turns a lot of things on their head, question is how true it all is. Certainly will be disturbing if it is true. For example, he claims that poly unsaturated oils, esp omega 3’s, are toxic and saturated fats are preferred, essential fatty acids are a fraud, cysteine/methionine are harmful in excess, free amino acids are bad for you, melatonin as a supplement is harmful, it’s often advisable to restrict water intake and/or eat lots of salt. Almost makes you think he’s just trying to be contrary for its own sake..

Procrastinate
I've been meaning to do this for ages

Sorry, someone had to say the obvious joke…

keep a food diary
Analysis

I just finished an MS in nutrition. I need to get some experience so if anyone has done a food diary and wants it analyzed for free, please let me know! Naturally when I get established I’ll be charging like a wounded bull (well OK maybe a slightly annoyed bull) so get it while you can.
Suggestion on doing food diary: top of page: date
Left column: time
middle column: the food or drink – make sure to say organic if it is organic – organic is reported to have at least twice the mineral content.
right column: estimated amount.
If it’s something like a burrito or hamburger, complete breakdown is probably too hard – just if possible maybe add note of approx % of veg/salad comp to meat, and if it has meat.

If you’ve already done one that is not like the above at all, I’ll still try to analyze it.

A week is good but 2 or 3 days isn’t too bad.

You should include juice and hot drinks. Juice has lots of sugar, and coffee and teas have various components.
