Losing weight

I’ve wanted to lose a few kilos for awhile now. I start putting on weight over a 6month/year period and then start going to the gym and watch what I eat more.. but then stop. I want it to stick this time.
I joined the gym just over 3months ago.. and have been going regularly. Tomorrow I’m going to start dieting. It should be easier as my boyfriend (who I live with) is away for a few weeks so I don’t need to worry about sharing meals etc.

The last few years I’ve started sleeping badly.
I get to sleep fine, but wake up several times during the night. I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks, and I go to sleep at roughly the same time. I almost always wake up at 7am even if I have a rare late night.
I’ve started going to bed later in the hopes that being more tired, and needing the sleep more will make me have a solid night sleep. It helps a bit but I still wake up 3-4 times a night.
I wake up with horrible headaches and am finding it harder and harder to get up in the morning.
