expose myself to more music, and more diverse music

Listening to records is all I do. If you EVER want to hear something you’ve never heard before, just contact me and I will SHOWER you with BEAUTIFUL MUSIC! I listen to so much. Mostly obscure/underground/vintage stuff, so there’s a good chance most of you have never heard it. I just devote myself to learning about different groups, listening to records, experienceg, enjoying, and really living in the music. From The Velvet Underground to The Holy Modal Rounders to Moondog to The King Khan and BBQ Show to Tom Waits to Mulatu Astaqua to The Pogues, I dig it. I hate MOST music that is/has been popular. I’m not one of those assholes that just doesn’t like stuff because other people like it, pop music just hasn’t been that great since the 50s and 60s. Exceptions like The Beatles(obviously) and the first seven records of Bob Dylan (famous for a damn good reason) can be found in my massive record collection, but I would just LOVE to share some stuff with anyone who’ll listen, because the indescribable joy that I get out of listening to the music I love, is so great to share. Basically, I’m a freak for honest, real, often obscure music, and I would love to share something with/receive something from you.

Possibly the most productive thing I've ever done. 2 years ago

I’m 14, and have become pretty fluent with a six string, if you dig me. I’m a music enthusiast to the greatest degree, and I’ve only been playing the guitar REALLY seriously for about a year. For beginners, I would definately recomend learning Bar Chords. You see, once learning those (and dramatically increasing the strength of your left hand pointer finger…I mean a lot) you have the ability to play every major, minor, 7th, and minor 7th, chord that exists. This leaves out suspended chords, 6ths, 5ths (which are amazingly easy as well), 9ths, and any other number you can think of. But bar chords are a TREMENDOUS start and you can have an entire career as a musician with just those. Billy Bragg, I believe, plays almost only bar chords and that man is an amazing guitarist. I have never had a guitar lesson, I am 100% self-taught. But if I HAD had lessons, I would have liked to have been taught bar chords from the start. I had to learn them after learning all my major/minor/7 chords manually, in traditional form. My favorite guitarists are Link Wray and Son House, and if you have any questions, comments, or tidbits just let me know.
