learn to play blues guitar
Got dem, chubby-fingered, bad co-ordination bluuuuueeeeesssss....(dah dah daaaaaaah)

New task intro time! (slightly over 1 “one post a week” promise, but who’s counting? Just me then.)

I’ve owned some sort of guitar from around the age of 11. I learned a few chords, tried to a few songs I liked, but the trouble was…I was never any good. Although being a leftie is no longer such a great excuse (thanks a bunch, Jimi), the stubbiness of my fingers meant I just couldn’t cut it. So, many, many years after my first real six-string, it was becoming apparent that “Rock Star” was not going to make an entry onto the old CV.

..But I would love to play an instrument. I’m thinking, the Blues may at least give me a shot. “Just Three Chords and the Truth”, right? Easy to learn, hard to master, but I’m not really looking to master anything, just play a few things that sound….o.k.

I have a “How to play Blues” book purchased, so all I need is some bourbon and a huge family tragedy and I should be sorted.

solve a rubiks cube
Rubiks: A Childhood Enigma

This is a task that I’ve had a little help with…the Missus brought one for me as a Christmas present after hearing my ramblings about these sort of things too many times. AND…It comes with a solution. Bonus. Ready with the pen to tick this one off….

...The main problem is in memorizing this soluton though. I’ve managed to work though the solution and “solve” the cube, but I’m not ticking it off until I can do it unaided, like those smarmy kids used to do on Childrens TV in the ‘80s (Krackerjack seems to spring to mind for this sort of shenanigans…)

A good start, but not off the list just yet :)
