Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I managed 35 miles on my bike yesterday and my legs don’t hurt today. Considering the most I’ve done so far is about 18 miles I’m quite proud of myself!

do my physio exercises (read all 9 entries…)
Habit forming

I’ve done my stretches now every day this year at least once. It’s helping me sleep because I make sure I do some before bed whatever happens. It’s also making it so I don’t ache anywhere near as much and I seem to relax a bit easier.

Cycle 20 miles in a day (read all 3 entries…)
13.32

I got a new bike in June. Well, I say new… It’s actually second-hand from my cousin.

I hadn’t been on a bike ride on my own bike for about 8 years prior to this, so I wasn’t at all used to it when I first started out. I was a bit nervous and wobbly. I soon got used to being back in the saddle though and instead of just using it to cycle to work on I also want to go on long bike rides. I started just going on short rides of a few miles, then I’ve been slowly increasing my distance.

Yesterday I managed a new record of 13.32 miles. The previous record was 11.11 miles. So it’s over 2 miles further. I’m hoping to be able to cycle 20 miles in a day by the end of September.

upgrade my DSLR
New camera

I’ve had a entry-level DSLR for 2.5 years now and I think it’s time to upgrade at some point within the next 12 months. My current one is ace but it doesn’t quite have all the features I need now I have additional lenses. I don’t think I’ll part with it, just get a new one and keep it as a spare. Maybe. I’m not sure. I feel horrible replacing it because we’ve done so much together and I chose it over various others for many reasons.
I need to think about this some more.

save enough money to buy a house (read all 2 entries…)
Reservation money paid!

Yesterday I paid the reservation fee on a new house yesterday. I should own a house by the end of March!!
