Make his birthday present.
ABC Book of You and Me

I tend to make most of my hubby’s presents for a couple reasons. 1) He buys himself everything he really wants when he wants it. 2) I don’t have a lot of money, so anything big I buy for him, he really buys for himself. 3) I just like to make things.

For his birthday, March 5th, I’m going to make him an ABC book of our relationship. Each letter corresponding to a memory I have of him, or something we did together. You know, something like that.

I haven’t started yet, but I plan to do just that tomorrow, or at least sometime this weekend.

A – Anniversary. We’ve been together for two years as of last November, and our one year “wedding” anniversary is this April. Probably include some pictures of our reception-type thing we had with my family and his, and our friends. Write a little bit about how awesome he is.
B – Birthday. The reason I’m making this for him. Get some pictures from his previous birthdays…if I can convince his dad. If not, just the ones I’ve spent with him.
C – Cuddling.
D – D&D. Incredibly geeky, innit? He has a group of friends that come over to play every other week. They would make excellent blackmail photos, except they’re actually proud of their extreme geekiness.
E – Encourage. Haven’t quite figured out how I’m going to do this yet, but he encourages me daily. I can only hope I do the same for him.
F – Family.
G – Gandalf. Our puppy.
H – Ha! Ha! So this might be a bit of stretch, but all the goofy pictures I can find of us together are going here.

L – Live. Laugh. Love. Pretty much any good pictures I find that don’t fit anywhere else.
M – MARVELous. Fits into his geekiness. All the Marvel activities we did together this past year. Pictures from dates to the movies (I have so many of those), ticket stubs, some artwork I made for him.
N – New Zealand. We spent this past Christmas in New Zealand with my family. Have some great pictures and our plane tickets.
O – Opposites (Attract). My crafy, musical-loving self and him and his geeky, analytical, finance-focused cuteness.
P – Peppermint. Our other puppy.
Q – Quilt. The Geek Quilt I’m making for him. My progress on that so far, the sad face pictures I took while I was cutting up his old t-shirts.
R – Roadtrip. Pictures/flyers from the few roadtrips we’ve taken in the past year.
S –
T –
U – Uncle. He recently became an uncle again. Cute baby pictures with her favorite uncle.
V – Valentine’s Day. We went on a dinner cruise this year. Include pictures from that as well as some of the notes I made him for his gift, which ending up being a continuation of his Christmas gift.
W – Work, and a reminder that things will get better.
X – Hugs and kisses (XOXOXO). All of our various smooching and cuddling pictures.
Y – You. A collage of pictures of just him that I happen to find adorable, and some words to tell him how much he means to me.
Z – Zeitgeist? Well he is German..

Too tired to function! I’ll finish the rest later.

Wizard's First Rule

My boyfriend husband bought this for me a couple days ago. It’s intimidatingly large. Too big! It may take me all year, but I want to finish it. First, I have to work on starting it.

Finish the geek quilt.
The geek quilt.

My husband takes geekdom to a new level. Over his 22 years of life he’s collected countless numbers of toys, shirts, and knickknacks, all of which have some geeky undertone to them. They’re all related to Nintendo, some comic book character, a video game, an obscure fantasy novel, etc. I’ve decided to take the shirts he can longer wear due to out growing them/stains/holes/any other reason and make a quilt out of them since he can’t seem to part with them regardless of the fact that he can’t wear them anymore.

All I’ve done so far is determine which ones I can use and cut out the collars (if the collar survived this long). Making/Buying Christmas presents has halted any progress I might have made on this over the past couple months. Actually, I probably wouldn’t have done anything yet anyway, but it sounded like a reasonable excuse, didn’t it?
