Well, I’ve totally done this. It really helped that my best friends started drinking tea too; we started feeding eachother’s habits. It started innocently enough this winter with my friend Sara; she’d come over and to watch the Office, I’d fire up the old kettle and brew some white tea with a bit of mango. But then things got out of hand. My friend Dan started drinking tea and hanging out with us, and we got into a kind of tea off. We would invite eachother over and try to outdo the other’s hostmanship. Every time I went to the store I’d pick up a new varieTEA; green tea with jasmine, english breakfast, chamomile. He’d fire back with gundpowder, raspberry, and bergamot . . the list goes on and Oolong. I now refer to my tea collection as my Armada.
I’ve since settled down; I have a fancy Bodum Shin Cha 2 cup tea infuser, 2 pounds of red tea and one pound of matcha. These are my 2 favorite varieties, and I have a seemingly endless supply. Thank you amazon.com!
I leave you all with a poem by Gary Snyder:
There are those who love to get dirty
and fix things.
They drink coffee at dawn,
beer after work.
And those who stay clean,
just appreciate things,
At breakfast they have milk
and juice at night.
There are those that do both,
They drink tea.
Today I bench pressed 245 pounds on a smith machine! Basically that is as difficult as benching 245 on a regular bench. I continue to inch closer, and I suspect I’ll be at 265 by month’s end. Yes I’m a man of ambition. And also, I’ve switched to a much higher quality protein powder which is already working miracles.
