I started doing this last weekend.
It’s not as hard as I built it up in my mind, and doesn’t take too long.
My mind still drifts a bit, but I am trying to regulate my breathing while I do it, to increase the “meditative” benefit.
I abandoned my faith when my first wife left me, but over the past few weeks I have been feeling drawn to it again, so this is very helpful for me.

My suggestoins:
1. Don’t start with the Old Testament, start with the New Testament. The OT gets bogged down soon after the beginning, and is hard to follow. The NT has good momentum, and is a story you’re probably familiar with anyway. Once you finish the NT, you’ll have good momentum for getting through the OT slow parts.
2. Only read one chapter a day. Too much and you will overwhelm yourself. You’ll finish it.
3. Don’t try to “get it” with every chapter you read. Some parts will resonate when you read them, others won’t. Once you finish, you can start over again, and you’ll find new things that resonate this time.
