I used to paraglide as a young lad (16-17) with a group called Sky Systems in East Sussex.Its really simple to learn and after the initial expense of lessons and buying a canopy its really cheap.I understand that modern canopies are much more stable now so as ‘extreme’sports go its fairly safe.
You cant beat the feeling of gliding on the elements above a 100ft cliff.. its as close to flying like a bird that man can get and not as nervewrecking as hang-gliding which is much faster and less comfortable.I’d love to get back into it and wish I’d never stopped. I foolishly sold my canopy when we moved to a flat part of the country and now I’m back in Brighton with flying sites all around!! Do it and when you do.. dont stop!

My old man (father) bought a a canopy on the-line and not used it so it’s mine when I can get it or him bring it to me! So I have a wing again! Now I need to get my license back so I can fly again.I learned to fly with a school called Sky Systems in Brighton but I understand they no longer exist HOWEVER; Gary Cook from Sky Systems has set up his own paragliding school called Apex so that will be my next port of call!? Hope to see YOU in the sky within the year!
