I can’t remember which books were in my original stack!
Oh well. This is my new stack:
Island- Aldous Huxley
Women, Islam and Modernity- Linda Rae Bennett
The Kite Runner- Khaled Hosseini
Sixty Stories- Donald Barthelme
Language and Mind- Noam Chomsky
Midnight’s Children- Salman Rushdie
I don’t have much free time. I’ll try to do twenty-five pages a day.

Physically:
I’m only one kilo over my pre-pregnancy weight. I am recovered, for the most part. My pelvic floor muscles are still a bit weak, and I’d still like to regain some fundamental fitness before I tick this off. Let’s say I am physically recovered when:
- My pelvic floor muscles feel normal again,
- I am 55 kilos or less,
- I am able to run for 30 minutes,
- My doctor says so.
So, what I can do is continues with pelvic floor exercises and continue with my run/walk training program. That is easy.
Emotionally:
Admittedly, I have been depressed. I would rather not go on antidepressants. I don’t want to become dependent on a drug, you know? So before I resort to antidepressants I will do these things:
- Talk to a counselor. They have a free counseling service and King Edward Hospital, where I gave birth. I will call them today.
- Make long term plans. One of the reasons I’ve been depressed is that- I don’t know- I don’t know where to go from here? I’m deferring my next semester at university, I have no job, and I’m not going on another trip overseas for I don’t know how long. It feels like I’m not moving forward and I don’t know what to do with myself or look forward to.
- Make interesting fitness goals. I won’t be able to train up in time for a marathon or even a half marathon this year. (I usually enjoy the training, and I miss it). So! I will just have to learn to do something physically that I couldn’t do before.
- Buy new clothes, get my hair done, feel pretty.
- Read.
- Listen to music.
- Get out of the house occasionally. With baby or without. There are some nice parks around for walking with strollers, and some good bands coming to town for when I can get Callum to watch Hero. Maybe I can do something new, too.
Birth Control:
I get my IUD in on the thirteenth.

I haven’t had Hero weighed in a couple of weeks- last I checked he was four kilos.
I think he’s doing pretty well, though. he’s on about 130ml of milk (or formula) every four hours. I’m slowly working him up to 150ml.
