I’ve been working on this since almost a year now. Getting a drivers license in Germany is a bit more difficult than I would have ever thought.

I had 3 driving tests, failed them all :-( It’s a crazy feeling, I’ve never failed on an exam before in my life, though I’m through my bachelors degree. It has been pretty hard going through that, but now I’m almost ready to give it another try. I had to wait 3 months after my last failed exam, but now the waiting is over. I’ll start practicing again next week.

Those of you who want to take a drivers test in Germany: in case you see a double-blinking Bus before you or even on the other side of the road, SLOW DOWN to 5-7 km/h even from 50 km/h. This is no joke, I spoiled 2 exams by not taking this rule serious enough.

Learning to speak correct German seems to be an almost impossible task for someone who had it’s first contact with the language as an adult. I mean it. I’ve been living in Germany for more than 2 years now, I have really friendly German colleagues and acquaintances and I speak the language every day. Still, learning to speak without mistakes is just as impossibly difficult as climbing the Mont Everest. But I’m determined to work on that.
