I got a trout stamp, I’m fishing on the root river, catching fish. Still much more to learn, but I’m considering this a successful conclusion. Thanks, internets, for giving me knowledge.

Caught a 3 lb large mouth bass off the dock yesterday. Figured out how to correctly spool my open reel and cast off into the reeds with a jig.
I hit a bucket of balls at a driving range near the camp I’m working at. I managed to correct my wicked slice and consistently hit the last ten balls between 150 – 180 yards.
Kayak is loaded. I’m off to paddle the Root River this weekend. I’m getting paid to do it, too. Ha!
Having been an outdoor educator for the last eight years, my body is built activity-specific. Large legs, overbuilt back, decent shoulders and small arms and chest compared to the rest of my body. The ability to do pullups is not really important to me, but having the strength-to-weight ratio that allows me to do it is. I’m making the goal activity-specific so I have a something definable and attainable to shoot for.
Still trying to get the line on my new reel. It keeps unspooling. Its got a serious twist that I haven’t been able to undo yet. I fished with a cheap closed reel setup yesterday, didn’t catch a thing.
I stopped practicing about a year after I moved to Arizona. Changing circumstances have kept me from practicing consistently. It needs to be a priority, even if only for 15 minutes a day.
I have access to an archery range with a few basic recurve bows. I plan to start practicing a couple times a week. I need to get some real information on archery so I’m practicing it correctly.
Just bought a rod and reel. Need to rig a spool and put the line on the reel and I’m ready to fish for bluegill. Its a start.
