Maintain a positive balance in my account at Karma World Bank
Purpose in life? 22 months ago

My purpose is to attain and exchange knowledge and to try to improve life for others while enjoying myself and leaving a positive account at the Karma World Bank if I can.

I say ‘Karma’ to express that idea of ‘give and get,’ not to subscribe to any religion.

Live and let live—help as you can…

Do unto others, etc…

Still editing... 22 months ago

I’m on my second revision draft, which is where the real work begins. I’m getting tired of the story already, but cutting out all the schlock should be the fun part. (I just looked it up. ‘schlock’ is really a word!)

learn to pick a lock
Not a complex lock... 22 months ago

but a lock nonetheless. Been picking them since junior high. Couldn’t let my parents know that I knew, or else they’d upgrade.

It was a mildly useful skill, but it didn’t save any lives.

Had to read the last book fast because people around me kept letting things slip. Can’t stand spoilers. I really liked certain things about the end. Well done.

24 - 26... Perfect manipulator?! That's not nice... 2 years ago

You Are a Witch (or Warlock)

You are deviously brilliant and a perfect manipulator.
You somehow always end up getting what you want – without anyone knowing you’re working behind the scenes.
Crafty and cunning, you can work your way out of any jam.
And it’s easy for you to get people to do what you want, whether you’re working for good or evil.

Your greatest power: Mind control

Your greatest weakness: Making people your puppets

You play well with: Ghosts

What Kind of Monster Are You?

You Are 56% Open Minded

You are a very open minded person, but you’re also well grounded.
Tolerant and flexible, you appreciate most lifestyles and viewpoints.
But you also know where you stand firm, and you can draw that line.
You’re open to considering every possibility – but in the end, you stand true to yourself.

How Open Minded Are You?

You Will Be a Cool Parent

You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.
You can tell when it’s time to let kids off the hook, and when it’s time to lay down the law.
While your parenting is modern and hip, it’s not over the top.
You know that there’s nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager… or a drill sergeant!

Would You Be a Cool Parent?

Spinning the tale... 2 years ago

I was a success halfway through NaNo ‘07, until I fell flat on my face and didn’t get up in time to rejoin the race. Now I want to take what I’ve written and make something of it. This ties into this goal:

http://www.43things.com/things/view/1057/write-a-short-story

as well as these goals:

http://www.43things.com/things/view/1535725/worldbuild
http://www.43things.com/things/view/547190/map-my-fantasy-world

I’m just going to spend a month or less on this and see how it goes. I’ve done NaNos where I “won,” but did nothing with my written product. It would be cool if my “losing” NaNo was fruitful.

Read "The Kite Runner"
Did not like it. 2 years ago

I’m glad that he wrote it. I’m glad that I read it. I learned something about Afghani culture and history. It’s a well-written book, that I just don’t like. I hate to be judgmental, even to a fictional person, but the main character struck me as a terrible person. I really disliked him.

I’m curious to know how this will play out as a movie. Hollywood will have a field day changing the story and script.

Edit: I’ve changed my mind about the book. It was worth reading. I still don’t like the character, but the fact that Mr. Hosseini could get me to think about his main character so much and appreciate the circumstances that shaped him is notable. I really enjoyed A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I didn’t expect.

The movie was decent too.

Really sorry to hog all this space, but how will I ever complete this goal otherwise?

I’m not happy with the results of the last quiz. No beef with Cyclops, but of all X-men!

Your Emoticon is Cool

You’re not feeling particularly up or down, just relaxed and calm. You’re ready for whatever is going to happen next!

What Emoticon Best Represents You Right Now?

You Belong in New York

You could be an “it girl,” if you wanted to be…
Just be a little more outgoing and let people see how great you are.
You’ve got what it takes – you just have to put it out there!

Are You An “It Girl”?

You Are 52% Intuitive

Your intuition is often right, and you use it more than you may realize.
Your gut feelings are usually a good guide, but you need more to go on when making a decision.
You’ll often check to see if the facts back up your feelings.
And when your intuition is wrong, you work to improve it for the future.

How Intuitive Are You?

You Are 76% Good

You are a good person. You do the best you can to be ethical, fair, and moral.
And as you know, being a good person means making hard decisions… and following them through.
If you’re confronted with an ethical dilemma, you will usually do the right thing.
Of course you do slip up. No one’s perfect. But you do your best to correct your missteps.

You are also probably: incredibly honest, especially with yourself

Right now you are on track to being: A respected leader

To be a better person: Be kind to someone who is not very kind to you

How Good Are You?

You’re a Confident Chica

You’re a total superstar – and you know it
Even if no one else does (in which case you’ll remind them)
You hate to admit that you’re wrong… even to yourself
Your life is great – and you’ve thankful for every great thing you have

Are You a Confident Woman?

You Are Somewhat Like Your Mom

Believe it or not, you and your mom are pretty darn similar.
It may not seem like it at times, but you and your mom have a lot of common ground.
Over time, you’ll probably get closer … especially if you emphasize the things you like about each other.

Are You Like Your Mom?

Men See You As Choosy

Men notice you light years before you notice them
You take a selective approach to dating, and you can afford to be picky
You aren’t looking for a quick flirt – but a memorable encounter
It may take men a while to ask you out, but it’s worth the wait

How Do Men See You?

You Are 3% Homophobic

You’re open minded, tolerant, and accepting.
And you’re not homophobic in the least :-)

Are You Homophobic?

You Are a Smart American

You know a lot about US history, and you’re opinions are probably well informed.
Congratulations on bucking stereotypes. Now go show some foreigners how smart Americans can be.

Are You a Dumb American?

Your Personality is 30% Addictive

You don’t have an addictive personality – at least, not usually.
You can indulge in vices freely, and there’s little chance that you’ll get hooked.

Do You Have an Addictive Personality?

You Are 64% Lady

Overall, you are a refined lady with excellent manners.
But you also know when to relax and not get too serious about etiquette

Are You A Lady?

You Are: 40% Dog, 60% Cat

You and cats have a lot in common.
You’re both smart and in charge – with a good amount of attitude.
However, you do have a very playful side that occasionally comes out!

Are You More Cat or Dog?

You Are 16% Sociopath

You’re empathetic, loyal, and introspective.
In other words, there’s no way you’re a sociopath… but you can spot one pretty easily!

Are You A Sociopath?

Your Personality Is

Idealist (NF)

You are a passionate, caring, and unique person.
You are good at expressing yourself and sharing your ideals.

You are the most compassionate of all types and connect with others easily.
Your heart tends to rule you. You can’t make decisions without considering feelings.

You seek out other empathetic people to befriend.
Truth and authenticity matters in your friendships.

In love, you give everything you have to relationships. You fall in love easily.

At work, you crave personal expression and meaning in your career.

With others, you communicate well. You can spend all night talking with someone.

As far as your looks go, you’ve likely taken the time to develop your own personal style.

On weekends, you like to be with others. Charity work is also a favorite pastime of yours.

The Three Question Personality Test

Your Superpower Should Be Manipulating Electricity

You’re highly reactive, energetic, and super charged.
If the occasion calls for it, you can go from 0 to 60 in a split second.
But you don’t harness your energy unless you truly need to.
And because of this, people are often surprised by what you are capable of.

Why you would be a good superhero: You have the stamina to fight enemies for days

Your biggest problem as a superhero: As with your normal life, people would continue to underestimate you

What Should Your Superpower Be?

You Are a Good Student of Men

You’re pretty good at knowing what men are thinking
But you’re not dead on 100% of the time
Let your guy off the hook sometimes… because you may be reading him all wrong!

How Well Do You Understand Men?

You Are 12% Weirdo

Your thinking is so in line with the mainstream, it’s pretty freaky.
Have you ever considered running for political office?
You’re so normal, people can’t help but feel comfortable with you!

Are You A Weirdo?
Very short, but startlingly accurate!

Your Anti Climactic Fortune

Deep into your future, I forsee: A high five

The Anti Climactic Fortune Teller

You Are Cyclops

Dedicated and responsible, you will always remain loyal to your cause.
You are a commanding leader – after all, you can kill someone just by looking at them.

Power: force beams from your eyes

I’ve found lots of true like in the past couple of years. I’m not really holding out for any one “special person” though. I just want to enjoy my life and my youth. To me, it will be most important to be able to look back and say I did good with my life and made the most of it. Now I’m going to get off the computer before I get much more philosophical…

Get rid of the mice in my house
I think it's the cold weather... 2 years ago

I wanted to borrow my friend’s cat, but I doubt it’ll happen. I think mice avoid the mere presence of a cat—even a kitten that doesn’t know how to hunt. Too bad my own kitty lives with my parents. He’s a hunter extraordinaire.
