Latin Poetry

I’m attempting to write poetry in Latin for the Memphis Foreign Language Fair. It’s my first time. Ha, it’s weird to think of myself as a virgin poet of the Latin language. You’d think I might have tried after sitting through two years of the class, internally bubbling with passionate emotions stemming from the Latin class itself, or rather, the teacher. Now the only passionate emotions I have are actual love and respect for this teacher. He’s pretty amazing. But that doesn’t really give me much to go on. Plus, I’m not sure my teacher would want to read a poem about how great I think he is. Well, he might, but that’d be awkward for me.
So I don’t even have a topic for this poem.
And I already foresee problems trying to fit a meter.
Ah, the difficulties.
