In the UK we have to complete a one-day Compulsory Basic Training course, to permit us to ride a small bike (max 125cc / 14.6 bhp) for up to two years, to practice on.
There’s a lot of information about this here: http://www.begin-motorcycling.co.uk/index.htm
I completed my CBT on Tuesday (It was a long day, but good fun) and I’m now riding a small bike around. After Chrismas I’ll think about taking the full test…

It’s not going to be an easy road from where I am now, to here (See http://www.43things.com/entries/view/513224 )... But nothing worth doing is easy.
I think I’d enjoy it, I have some relevant experience, am in a position to gain more relatively easily. Ironically enough, I just need to make a plan and see it through! :)

Well, it means a lot to me, anyway :)
It’s going pretty well really: Had my 5th lesson tonight, managed a length of the pool. I’m due to start having 2 sessions a week starting on Saturday, since I’ve also signed up for the ‘12 week program’ as well now.
This includes a free pass to use the pool at any time during those three months, so it seemed a pretty good deal…
