I was waiting in the airport for a flight back to Georgia to visit my family…if I remember correctly, it was under unhappy circumstances. I was sitting by myself having a snack when a complete stranger complimented my shirt and offered to buy me a beer. Not one to refuse a drink, I accepted, and we started talking. He asked me when my birthday was, and upon determining my sign (aquarius) started making some very insightfull observations about me. I asked him his name and he told me, but added that I probably wouldn’t remember anyway because I’m not one to retain inconsequential details. Our gates were next to one another, and we spent some of our last moments listening to his ipod. As they did the final boarding call (for me specifically) we started kissing emphatically. I didn’t get his number and I’m glad…I think that getting to know him would have robbed the experience of it’s magic. And he was right- I don’t remember his name.

I learned to fly a plane before I learned to drive a car. I was 15 years old when I started and was only 2 hours away from my solo license when school commitments forced me to take a break from lessons. Unfortunately I never resumed them, and I would really love to pick it back up again. My soon to be step father is a pilot who is working on his instrument rating, so hopefully he can help me get back into the swing of things!
I recently read in the Guiness Book of World Records about a group of peopel who stage the largest ever group hug and did it to benefit cancer research. Since our father died of cancer, my sister and I are talking about trying to top the record and giving the proceeds to the same cause. It didn’t say how they raised money, but I think I’d solicit donations from companies for a specific amount of money for every person that joins in. Even if we didn’t break the record, it would still be fun (because hugs are great!) and it would be for a very good cause!
