I’m excited! I’d always heard that walking was a great starter to losing weight when you’re far gone, but I didn’t realize HOW great it was! I have a boyfriend now (yay!) who lives downtown and likes to wander from friend’s house to friend’s house, and over the past week I’ve been walking every day for at least a solid hour at a decent pace. He has a longer stride than my casual walking pace, so I’ve been forcing myself to stretch my stride even when I’m on my own so I can keep up without being out of breath. Well, it’s worked! I was thinking about how I’ve been slacking on this site’s updates and on eating healthy and doing my 50+ jumping jacks (I haven’t done them in almost two weeks now :< ) and thought I’d weigh myself in to guilt myself into doing them again, especially considering I’ve just come home from my BF’s cousin’s place and we had pizza, dry ribs and soda, not to mention I came home and drank a full two cups worth of water.
I weighed myself in, sure that my numbers would be stupid, likely the same as what I was two weeks ago, BUT! I weighed in at 221!!! :D I’ve lost NINE pounds, almost entirely in the last week, just from walking at a quick pace. I actually walked home from downtown last night, which was an hour walk on it’s own, not counting the rest of the walking I’d already done that day!
So, I’m pretty happy :) I can’t wait until I can start seeing the weight loss and actually fitting back into my size 15 clothes! Of course it’s just the short term goal, but I have some damned hot pants for size 15 ;D

Well, I didn’t get a phone call on Friday regarding the outcome of the job. The lady who was doing the interviewing and whatnot is now out of town, and when I went by yesterday, there was someone new working. Goody. So clearly I didn’t get the job, and they didn’t see fit to call as promised, which I guess is pretty typical. So, I’m not totally crushed, but a little disappointed since I really thought I would get the job. When I called my mom and told her about it, she suggested I call them and find out what pulled me out of the running, or if it was simply that this other person had a better interview or what. I think that sounds like a good idea, to better myself for future potential jobs.
Also, some good news, I have another interview. MoneyMart – a place that cashes cheques and does payday loans – called me today and I’m going on Thursday for the interview. I really hope I can get this one, even though it’s a bit out of the way. It’s the only other place that’s called so far. I have a few more places to call for follow ups; Hallmark, Ramada, and eventually Mmmuffins, once the interviewer is back. I might try phoning HMV sometime this week, too, even though they’d said they weren’t hiring right then and there, but I’ll have to think about that one as I don’t want to annoy the company two weeks after being told they have nothing available. :P
Hopefully the next interview equals a job!

Well, not usually, but in this case, I was pretty content with the results of my appointment today. I went in with the food diary I was supposed to fill out, and after about ten seconds of looking it over, the doc instantly knew what was wrong. I eat erratically! That is to say; I don’t schedule meals, and I don’t follow any plan for said meals. Also, I eat a lot of preserved and microwaveable stuff, which is always has a higher concentration of calories, meaning I fill myself up on junk, and at random intervals, so my body has no idea what’s going on, and how to process everything properly. Even if I ate junk at the same time every day, and the same amount of it, my body would have a better idea of how to handle it, because it’d know when to “turn on my metabolism” so to speak. It went well, though, because apparently I enjoy eating all the healthy foods (veggies, seafood, etc) which is a common problem for doctors guiding patients to a healthier tomorrow.
So, basically, now I need to convince my parents to buy me a ton of healthy groceries and I’m getting some basic blood work done, also. I’m going back in a month’s time, and we’ll see how I’m doing then with the dietary changes. Also, she was pleased with my physical activity, keeping up (for the most part) with my jumping jacks, and I’ve been walking 2+ hrs a day since I’m job hunting all over downtown. I don’t remember with 100% accuracy, but I think, fully clothed (shirt, pants, sweater, bra, undies, cell + wallet in pocket, blahblahblah) I weighed in at 230.1 or something like that.
So, now to change my food intake, stick with at least three meals a day, and stick to low-calorie-concentrated foods like fruit and veggies and whole grain crackers and fish and whatnot… and keep up my excercising! We’ll see how it goes :) I’ll keep updating my weight weekly to see where I’m going. Doc said to keep a food diary running, too. One month’s time, I’ll be seeing the doctor again and we’ll see where I’ve gotten by then.
