I can do 20-30 miles in pretty adverse weather with a few significant hills. I did 25 miles the other day while it POURED rain, was fairly windy and it wasn’t all that warm. I don’t mind cold weather really at all and windy weather is okay. Rain is okay if it is pretty warm as I drip dry, but when it is cold and wet . . . yuck. My clothes were so wet that riding through puddles didn’t make any difference, I was already soaked. To make matters worse I had two layers of clothes on because of the temperature – everything was soaked. My shoes were so wet that I literally squished when I walked and when I took them off I could wring water out of them. Anyway, I’m sure that all this is good for my soul or something.
I had set this goal last summer. I didn’t make it. Well, this summer is another chance.
I think that a lot of the goal is just setting the time aside to do it and then actually just doing it. Sounds so simple, doesn’t it?
Oh, and it has gotten a lot easier to judge much more exactly how far I bike – Gmap-Pedometer makes it really pretty easy.
