How I did it: I didn't want to be a teacher and had just completed my MBA when I got laid off from Fluor, Inc. Having found I was able to teach on a substitute basis if I passed the CBEST, I went for it! I registered on the CBEST site and passed the test after 3 weeks of studying. My friend and I went riding today. We did 18.45 miles at our splitting point and I added another 1.5 miles for riding to my friends. Then I rode around a bit on my own to make it at least 20, I know it was probably more
I got on my bike today and kept thinking about wanting to ride a 100 mile bike ride – I started last year with riding about 2 miles and then was exhausted. Did that for a while and worked up to 5 miles when I wasn’t winded at 5, bumped it to 10, then 12, 15, 17 a few weeks ago and today 20+....
After 20 miles of the most beautiful scenery – beaches, plants, environmentally protected Back Bay in Newport Beach and all along Balboa Island, Costa Mesa and the massive hill on Superior (that I usually make it all the way up and this time my freaking chain popped off AGAIN! That’s twice in a row).... I’m looking forward to tomorrow nights ride, just to keep in the swing of things, it’ll be a short ride, but it’ll keep me used to it!
