I used to live in Lichten springs and would go to Greenlake to run at least twice a week. ( It turned into everyday when I quit my job) I think it is easier to distance run if you can give yourself landmarks instead of just “okay..pant..pant.. I’ve run 2.32 miles or I’ve run..pant..pant 42 minutes.” For me it gives me more of a reason to run than just fitness. I’m actually going somewhere. I have a goal, whether it is to run to the theatre or to run around the whole lake. Plus, there are so many dog walkers, parents, and lovers walking around that it feels like your own private television, with old characters and intoducing new ones from time to time.

I’ve been trying the whole growing up thing as of late. You know.. that includes realizing your innermost fears or acknowledging begrudgingly the things you need to work on personally. Well, I think I’ve got that seeing thing halfway down, and now I have to do the WORK of turning those things towards my favor. Fuzzy is just an adjective that makes me feel..well.. happy, warm and fuzzy. Eventually all those fears and weaknesses will be one giant Popple and I can ride joyfully in the pouch.
I just recently discovered a rock wall at my gym, decided to finally swallow the date in my throat and start climbing. It is awesome. Such an endorphin kick. I love overhangs. I haven’t ventured to the whole real mountain thing yet. It coming up on winter here in Alaska. I’ll leave that for the more experienced climber and humble my novice self to the many faces of the rock wall. But spring is just around the corner. ;-)
