How I did it: Honestly, around the time I turned 18, my parents stopped caring what I did. This kind of took away some of the excitement, but it was also liberating. If you're thinking long term, just keep pushing the border. If you surprise your parents one night with a call that you are now facing a minor, that might not be the best strategy. Honestly though, part of growing up is constantly pushing the envelope. Do it gradually and you'll get a way with it. Read how I did it…
I have a few in the works. I should really attempt to “finish a song”.
Hah, and I’d like to add that the majority of my potential masterpieces are only music, no lyrics. I often know what I want to say, but I take forever to figure out how I want to say it. The instrumental part comes much more naturally. Very much the opposite of most it seems.
The beginning of college is the perfect time to start fresh. Force yourself to be more outgoing, you’ll be surprised with people’s reactions. I’ve found that if you’re very outgoing from the beginning, people respond in a congruent manner. Most people assumed I was older and had some kind of authority.
