I savor meat. I can’t deny it; I’ll probably enjoy the taste of meat until the day I die. Still, that having being said, I do at least want to try vegetarianism for at least a year. I think I’m going to start at school this fall, so that way it’ll be a little easier (as I’ll be more in control of what I eat than I am when living with my parents). Mostly I’m doing it for health reasons, though I can empathize with the ethical reasons as well.

Hollins University is my dream school, but my aid offer was really low, and my third party scholarships are non-existent because I put all my eggs in one basket and blew them off since I’d been eligible for the school’s full-tuition scholarship (before I blew the interview, of course). My dad makes over $100,000 so I can’t get federal aid besides unsubsidized loans. This year, unless I get off my butt and talk to the aid office and they can help me out, I’ll end up paying about $23,000 out of pocket (excluding the loan in my package). I’m getting roughly that amount in inheritance money from my grandmother, but as my mom likes to point out it only covers freshman year. So obviously I need to stay on top of scholarship apps and work harder on getting aid for the other years; I’ve had my heart set on Hollins for a year, and it’ll be a major blow if I have to graduate from somewhere else.
