Go spearfishing
Starting Spearfishing 3 years ago

I found I was fed up with trying with a rod, hoping I was in the right place at the right time, going for the right fish with the right bait set at the right height etc. At least with spearfishing you can get in there and see what you want to shoot, then it’s just a question of being able to hit them!

I started with a pneumatic gun – there are those who still prefer the traditional gun with bands that you have to strain to load, hoping you don’t catch your fingers. Pneumatic ones are just loaded by pushing the spear in until it clicks and is cocked, and I would recommend them for beginners. I’m still waiting to see and hit a bass, but have caught mullet, wrasse and pollack.

buy a black Volkswagen GTI
Buying a Golf GTI Mk I 3 years ago

Well – it wasn’t exactly black, but dark blue. I came across a 1992 cabriolet model known as a Rivage, which turned out to be very rare.

In general, these old GTI’s are the most stylish, and probably the fastest. The engines go on for ever -easily over 100,000 miles.

go on a Mediterranean cruise
Mediterranean Cruises 3 years ago

I researched for our first cruise this August, and with the help of the book ” Cruise Ships and Cruising 2005” had narrowed it down to Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, within our budget. Celebrity seemed to have the edge for better food, quieter, and more pools for our teenage boys. However, the timing and departure airports didn’t work out, and we chose the RC 7 night cruise departing Barcelona.

Our misgivings about RC were unfounded – the food and service were excellent, and our boys made friends with a crowd and hung out with them all the time. It was very hot for doing sightseeing, and for next time we’re looking at the caribbean, with excursions doing snorkelling etc rather than so much sightseeing.
