Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

run with the bulls in Pamplona
Why do we only use the verb "to gore" when talking about bulls?

Uff, I want to do this soooo much. It looks like its hell fun. I am not interested in that whole tomato fight thingo, though. Gross, tomatoes.

Live in Sydney
Untitled

I am from Sydney.. therefore I strongly support living in Sydney!!

Best city in the world, bitches!!!

eat food
Untitled

Don´t eat food! Starve yourselves! Food makes you put on weight.. don´t use food to fill the void! Live the void! Fill the void with meaningless sex!

Have sex with my flatmate/roomate (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I wouldn´t mind sleeping with both of them, but one of them is particularly hot. First time I´ve ever lived with a sexy guy…

Now, how do I get past his girlfriend..hmm…

go to spinning class
Ufff...

I have done this, but everyone told me that it was fun! Ahaha! Okay, so its not “not fun”, but its bloody hard work!! Wow! I am a few kilos overweight.. I should lose about 5kg, and I didn´t think things were that dire, but when I left, I felt like a fat greasy pig! It was really hard! Ahahah!

But seriously, the instructor was really good-he was screaming at us the whole time, singing along to the music…

Hope it works like people say it does!!!!

visit Chile
More than just a visit...

I´m now living and working here quite happily. Life is a lot more difficult here than it is in Australia.. I´ve had to learn to spend less, eat less, enjoy simplicity more, etc.. but that was my goal in coming here, so its all good.

Worth the effort, for sure.. beautiful country, some nice people.

learn arabic
Untitled

I´ve managed to learn Spanish fluently, and I must admit that the idea of learning a non “latin alphabet” language is pretty daunting.. but I do love how it sounds..

lose the weight i need to lose and keep it off (read all 2 entries…)
LAZY PIG!!

I am a lazy pig! I´ve lost weight before, but its always been unintentionally..ahaha..

I´ve started going to the gym again.. about 3 or 4 times a week. Hope it lasts.. I´ll put a reminder on this one and see if it gets done..

Anyone have any “secrets” to offer besides getting off my bum and going to the gym/not eating crap/etc..??

Become Jewish
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I want a religion, and I´ve long thought that Judaism would be the best for me.. My family is pretty atheist and none of us are baptised. My brother and sister and I all had Catholic/Anglican education, all had to go to Catholic church services and stuff, but we´re not oficially anything.. Its nice to at least be able to choose, but at the same time, I reckon it would be nice to belong to some religion somewhere, have something to belong to, something to live by..

What do you think?? What does Judaism have that Christianity/Catholicism/etc.. doesn´t??

Hmm.

go to Uruguay
Untitled

I love Uruguay, especially Montevideo. The people really are some of the nicest people you´re ever likely to meet.

go to argentina
¡CHE, VIAJÁ A ARGENTINA!

Definitely worth doing.

Awesome country, friendly and cultured people, fantastic food, fantastic nightlife.. Beautiful culture, absolutely fascinating country.. Forget anything you heard about it being dangerous. I´ve been there about 8 times and nothing has ever happened to me…!!

If you never visit any other country in your life, make SURE you go to Argentina, especially beautiful Buenos Aires.

become fluent in spanish
Did it!

I came to Chile 2 1/2 years ago with little to no Spanish. I now speak fluently with very little accent. People are confused by the fact that I am very very anglo looking, but speak Spanish like a Chilean…

Definitely the best thing I´ve ever done with my life (yeah, better than going to Uni!!)

DO IT!!! Get on a plane and go!! The rest will sort itself out..
