They weren’t my beehives, but I have done some beekeeping. I was in a very hot West African country at the time, and it was absolute torture to be wrapped up in that heavy clothing and netting. By the time I took my thick rubber boots off, the sweat had actually pooled one inch deep inside them. Eeeew. But the honey was goooood.

He asked for money, I kept walking, and just as I passed, he muttered “disgusting.”
My bike had been stolen the day before. I was in a bad mood.
So I turned around and started yelling at him, told him he didn’t know s- about me, told him I buy meals for homeless people all the time (true), that I lived in a mud hut for two years while in the Peace Corps (true), told him I hadn’t had a paying job in 4.5 years because I volunteer all the time (true), and told him to f- off. He yelled at me a bit, and actually kind of charged me. I was too pissed to be self-preserving and charged right back (he was like twice my size). He then looked at me like I was nuts, and told me that he was talking to himself and about himself, and that he meant he was disgusting for begging. I just turned and stormed off, into my school building, where I then sat down at a table and cried because I was angry, scared, and felt like a total ass for yelling at a homeless man.
I do not like living in New York. It does bad things to your head.
