I’ve just finished my first week as a temp for the NHS at Southampton General Hospital. I know I’ve been very risky but very lucky. I handed in my notice last week, before securing a job, but gave the green light to the agency on the Thursday, filled in paperwork on Friday, finished at Ironbridge on Sunday and started as a temp on the Monday! I wouldn’t recommend being so risky to everyone as, in this current climate, you can’t guarantee getting a job in the new location. A friend of mine from Telford moved to Scotland but had to return shortly after. Now she’s still job hunting in Telford. So, here the money isn’t great and it’s a lot of hard stressful work but it’s a start. The search goes on for permanent work with a good wage :)

How I did it: A couple of friends and I decided to form a band to play for one night only at a charity gig. We were all starting from scratch so sound pretty rough to start with. Thus, we decided to call ourselves 'Lower Your Expectations'.We formed at the end off October 2008 and didn't really manage to practice much until after the New Year when we hired a practice room every Wednesday. We tried to document our progress as a giggle and we did ac… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I set out to make a Madeira cake and some Shrewsbury cakes for work, as a goodbye and thank you for having me.Not being much of a cook, I was hideously slow. I knew the basic techniques like folding, beating and rubbing but the mixture wouldn't behave for me. The mixture for the Shrewsbury cakes sort of curdled on me and was too wet with the sherry in and the chocolate part of the madeira cake was too solid. But I did it in the end. … Read how I did it…
