You see a lot more of a society by live and working within it. I worked in Japan from the summer of 95 to summer of 96. I met lots of great people (Japanese and even some Americans), and I experienced a lot of Japan.

Hi! I’ve now completed 2 small adventure races and 1 two-day mountain bike rogain so far. I love getting out doors and being active, riding bikes (I’ve got 3, a MTB, a roadie and my commuter), hiking, camping, etc.
Having a race on the horizon gives me a tangible goal to work towards, so I’m starting with small steps.
A 24 hour adventure race is a BIG task to undertake, but I have a training plan along with a few smaller events to build up with.
I’m amazed looking back now how running 5km in 30 minutes seemed like a BIG goal, that I’d need to sych myself up for and then sit down after to recover from.
A little while ago, a collegue who runs marathons told me that “you need to train to race, not race to train”. Once I started going out for a run or ride with my HRM (heart rate monitor) on with a plan to exercise in a target zone I found that I actually enjoyed the work out and I could last longer or go further.
I’ve found that by starting with small steps towards a goal, anything is possible.
Thanx for reading and good luck doing your things that you want to do!
