So we’re off to Killington next week for some snowboarding. Lessons. Or maybe surfing depending on how the weather works out! What a crummy December for snow. Actually the learners slopes are open and there are plenty of green and blue runs with snow that we can cut our teeth and bruise our arses on.

How I did it: Money. Put money on the table. I won $425 for getting down to 166.8lbs. And now I'm enjoying the fruits of my winnings. Trim your kcal intake and increase you kcal output. "Easy as that". Read how I did it…
How I did it: Easy as pie. I just took out a membership at the GoodLife gym a couple blocks away and started going there almost daily, alternating resistance training and spin classes, with a day off here and there. It only costs me about $40/m with unlimited access to all their resources and facilities. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Slow and easy wins this race. I went through a number of cycles of easy base training and novice 5K training programs. Limited myself to one 5K race per year, and kept my race goals very conservative. Read how I did it…

No progress on this one. Added 30lbs to my back squat, 20lbs to my front squat, but haven’t worked the deadlift in a while, or tried a new PR. After my 5th degree black belt test last June I switched to straight power/weightlifting workouts at CrossFit. After 8 weeks of powerlifting work and those new squat PRs, I’ve been doing weightlifting training only. Should have no problem hitting 405 on my dead next year.
I am ditching all my running goals. I am not going to be able to run again until after my knee surgery, and I have no idea when that will happen. Could be another 6 – 24 months. And even then, I’m not entirely sure I want to get back on the running wagon. CrossFit has been working out very well for me and between karate, regular CF workouts plus power/weightlifting, I think I have plenty to keep me busy. We’ll see. I would still like to get the sub-20 minute 5K. These other distances I don’t care about so much.
