I’m trying to clean and de-clutter my life at the same time, so this goal is just necessary to achieve the other goals. I had good luck with this when I was saving to backpack across Europe. I would just say to myself, “Self, wouldn’t you rather spend this $5.00 (or $10 or $1) on your trip?” I need a travel goal, I think. Anyway, I’m trying it. Today I start.

All of this stuff, the requirements of a modern life are weighing me down. I’m starting today to lighten my load and my outlook! I’m starting with our clothes. I can’t stand all of the piles of things everywhere I look, baskets and baskets of laundry for a family of 5. I used to try to make sure our things got to people who really needed them, but today I’m just going to trust in the Goodwill and let them go.
This 43 things thing is working. Just by bringing my goals to the forefront, makes doing them more likely. I worked a little last night on a shawl that has been waiting patiently since last winter. Today, after cleaning for awhile, I’m going to ride my bike (thing #5?) to this new yarn shop and cafe called Lamb Shoppe. I’m going to find some pretty yarn to make a sampler scarf and practice up on some stiches.
