How I did it: Just went into the airline office and booked it!It was with Emirates airlines on one of their new planes so first class was private suites with individual minibar, huge TV, fully flat bed, duvet, PJs and slippers, basket of chocolate bars and snacks, a la carte dining on demand etc etc etc. Brilliant. How I did it: I spent 4 days walking on the Great Wall of China in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK.The first day was a very ruined part of the wall and was very rough and challenging. The second and third days were on steep and challenging sections of the wall. The fourth day was on the most touristy part of the wall which was renovated in 1984 and even had handrails! This is mainly for health reasons. I don’t want to be pickling my liver. And it is easier to get fit and lose weight when not drinking alcohol.
I hate the out-of-control feeling when really drunk and I certainly hate the hangover the next day (although I tend not to have hangovers as often these days which could be a worrying sign that my body is getting used to the alcohol intake!).
So I have decided to start keeping my alcohol intake to within the healthy limits for a woman and to avoid binge drinking.
I’ve seen some Ice Hotels on the TV and my partner has stayed in one and I would love to try it. Even the glasses you get your drink served in is carved out of ice! Your bed is a slab of ice covered in reindeer skin and you sleep snugly in a sleeping bag suitable for the cold extremes. I might even combine this goal with seeing the Northern Lights.
