Today I was getting my hair cut and there was a Deaf family at the hair salon as well. The good ol’ ASL University has taught me well and I didn’t stare (though I will admit to glancing two of the kids having a conversation in ASL out of the corner of my eye while waiting for my sister to finish getting her hair blowdried.) I’ve only learned a handful of words… like, thirty, and only about fifteen of which I remember, so I felt really shy about saying anything, but I finally got the courage to compliment one girl on her newly-curled hair. It was pretty halting-and I don’t know the sign for hair, so I just touched my own hair-but she thanked me, so I guess I did okay. Hope I didn’t come of as a stalker.

How I did it: I just grabbed a water bottle and changed into my uniform and went to the workout. It sucked because I didn't remember a single form, but it felt really good to be back. Read how I did it…
I’m halfway there, I guess. I’m in the middle of Lamentations right now, and I’ve been reading at least a chapter a night for… wow, probably a year. The New Testament will go much faster, though.
I can list the books of the New Testament, and the Old Testament up to Proverbs, which means it’s only the weird Hebrew prophet names that I’ll have to memorize now.
I used to do tae kwon do twice a week, but I haven’t gone in a over a year. I got my first dan black belt and everything. Unfortunately, a combination of laziness and other obligations have kept me from going back. Maybe I’ll try Bagua this time. Bagua is really cool.
