design my own tattoo
Done and dusted 2 years ago

Well worth doing, I spent a good few months designing and re-designing my tattoo, discussing what would be best with my tattooist and finally, getting it done.

It’s taken 4 hours so far and I have another 2 hours to go, then my tattoo will be complete. It’s a BIG design on my back with spirals and stuff, very happy with it =)

Set up a wireless network at home (read all 2 entries…)
Guess where I'm writing this entry from? 2 years ago

I bought a refurbished wireless (netgear) router for £15 from E-Bay. It was cheap because the original manual and installation CD were not supplied. Instead I downloaded them.

I then bought a single WiFi USB adaptor (or dongle) for £8, again from E-bay.

I downloaded the manual from netgear.com and followed the instructions.
I spent about 5 minutes placing and setting up the hardware (it’s at my staircase, mounted to the wall).
I then spent a further 15/20 minutes messing around with the settings. Note that this would’ve taken me 5 minutes if I’d figured out that I needed to change the password setting.
I then successfully connected to the internet without the network wire in the laptop =)

So I’ve spent a total of 25 minutes and £23 and I now have a wireless home network!

Next step is buying a couple network cards for my PCs and another dongle for my other laptop.

I’ve been amazed at how simple this was and how easy installing new components (PCs, phones, laptops, etc) is. I’ve also been able to get rid of those nasty cables snaking their way accross my floor and walls. Well worth it.

Oh and I’m creating this entry on my laptop from my front garden in the sunshine, wire-free =)

Try Tesco home delivery
Tesco Home Delivery - Pretty neat 2 years ago

Tesco home delivery has both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages include not having to trudge about the shop, dealing with screaming kids and grannies walking at like 0.2mph. Not having to lift all your shopping home (useful if you’re old or disabled or whatever).

Disadvantages include high cost for delivery (minimum of £4!), not being able to inspect your items before purchase and the most annoying (for me) that sometimes your nearest Tesco wont have the items listed on the website. That said, you can select to have items “replaced” by the next best thing if you so wish.

Another good thing is that you can pick and chose all the Buy One Get One Free and Discount items, saving yourself a bit of cash. I also find that when I’m in the shop I tend to pick things up without thinking, usually buying the more unhealthy options or expensive items just because they’re closer to my hand. Online, there’s no such influence and you are free to revise your items a million times over if you so wish.

I only tried out Tesco home delivery to see what it was like, I think it’s useful but not an amazing breakthrough service or anything.
