Okay, I haven’t STARTED one per se ;p just attended one regularly at Sacramento City College. It’s amazing everytime, no matter the number, which usually is pretty low. I definitely agree that “Philosophy” tends to intimidate. I’ve just moved back to San Jose a couple of weeks ago, so I’m looking for like minded people around here that aren’t afraid of questions. So far, so good. I think by Fall semester, I might be able to organize one around here.

Just realize that how people treat you, most of the time, is not a reflection of you, but of themselves. We all like to assume that the world is like us, that way we don’t feel as lonely or as bad about our flaws. I mean, if everyone is shallow/stupid/ugly/boring/fat/etc… like me, then it’s not that bad right? So if you get “rejected” by a guy/girl, it really isn’t about you, it’s about them! They don’t know you, they only have the perception of “knowing” the OTHER people before you. If you look at it in that light, it’s pretty obvious that none of us ever gets rejected really. We reject ourselves and what we think we know about ourselves. We are not judging other people, we are judging the qualities we project on to other people (oftentimes with no basis whatsoever.) Everyone else is too busy worrying about what you think of them, so just understand that it’s not about you, you conceited man/woman! ;p
Note: This does not give us free license to never self reflect and seek to improve ourselves because “it’s not me, it’s them.” Tsk, tsk, tsk. That is just intellectual/spiritual laziness. Trust your heart. Seriously.
