My past attempts at completing this goal by fleshing out one of my many ideas have failed due to lack of time. Since I’ll be graduating within the next month or so, I hope to dedicate some time to this. At the very least, I want to just finish one so that I never have to look back and wonder if I could have produced anything decent once I set my mind to it.

How I did it: I went to New Orleans with a friend. His car was a stick-shift. He wanted a break, so I took over somewhere in Alabama. Yeah, it still shuddered when I shifted, and I stalled a couple of times, but trial by fire worked - I can do it okay now. Read how I did it…
How I did it: By eating less, and being more careful about what I ate when I did. This consisted mostly of two things: cutting out non-meal snacks almost completely, and cutting down portions when I did eat. It's a bit painful when you start, but if you stick to it hard it gets easier. Mostly I've been having a light breakfast and lunch, with a larger dinner - makes it a bit easier for me. How I did it: I'm marking this as done, despite the fact that I never actually did 100 consecutive pushups. Why? Because that's a pretty silly, arbitrary goal when you get right down to it. What's important is that I went from barely being able to do 10 sloppy pushups at a time to being able to do more than 60 good-form pushups consecutively. I've now moved to a more balanced fitness program, but this program helped give me the incentive to start impro… Read how I did it…

I’ve finished all of my coursework & my oral comprehensive exams – now I only have my thesis to go. I have about 1/2 of it drafted, working on drafting the rest this week, and then I have about a month to go through revisions with my advisors. I can’t wait to finally be finished…
This is something I’ve wanted to do since my days as an avid backpacker in Boy Scouts, and something rekindled my interest a few months ago – I can’t even remember what. At first, I tried to gauge the interest levels of my friends, and when I couldn’t seem to get any interested in the idea at all, I let the idea lie dormant for a while. Recently, though, it’s come back to the forefront of my mind, and I’ve decided that if I want to do it, I should do it regardless of whether or not I can get a friend to go with me. The time I have after I finish my Master’s is going to be the best opportunity I’ll have to go, and if my desire remains, I’ll really regret not doing it. Once I’m finished with my thesis, I’m going to be taking a number of prep hikes to test out gear, and make sure that it’s something that I really want to do. But beyond that, it seems like mental commitment is the most important contributor towards successfully finishing, and I know from past experience that that won’t be a problem for me.
