How I did it: My ship had pulled into Bahrain and the trip was offered to anyone willing to pay the hundred bucks. Only two dozen on a ship of a thousand did, so our tiny group was shuttled to the place. I don't know how middle easterners care for the dolphins, but the didn't seem mistreated and were eager to play. Water was cold, only 55 F, but I was first in and last out. Good times. How I did it: Came back from Iraq with some money in my pocket, got a car, and me and a buddy just left. We had a few things we wanted to see, but no actual destination in mind. Moved there when I was 2 and lived there for 6 years. There’s so much to see and do, it’s amazing for such a relatively small country. See the gysers, the volcanos, the puffins and whales the sand spas and hot springs. Just mind when you go, remember it’s so high up on the globe that the light patterns are different. Depending on the time of year you go, it could be all dark, all light, or a weird mush where the sun can rise twice or not at all and the sky is a hazy grey.
