I was reading an article in “Womens Health” about a woman who completed her first triathalon and decided that I could do that too. I have found out that the next triathalon in my area is in April 09. It is a short course, 400m swim, 10km cycle and 4km run, which sounds like the perfect triathalon to begin with.
Yesterday I went to the local pool to see how far I could swim. I was able to do 500m freestyle (but stopped after each lap for a breather) so I will need to work on this. I don’t think the cycling will be an issue but I certainly need to train for the running session. This is going to be great fun….

How I did it: I went on a bus tour of the South Island, which was a good way to see the beautiful scenery. Everything was organised and I didn't have to worry about anything except for taking photos and taking the big leap off the canyon swing in Queenstown. Read how I did it…
This is a goal that I have aimed for regularly during my life but never seem to reach it.
My enthusiasm seems to disappear after a few weeks and I always seem to find an excuse to overeat or not to exercise.
Time to take a different approach to this problem by slowly breaking all my bad habits and gradually replacing them with healthy new ones.
To get me started I will commit to doing the following:
Step 1) Halve the size of my dinner. I eat way too much at this meal.
Step 2) 30 minute walk every morning before work (clause: if raining heavily the walk can be postponed until lunch time, as there is a gym at work that I can use.)
Okay, I’m ready – bring it on!!!
Yeahoooooo. My passport arrived by registered mail this week. I’m now one big step closer to travelling overseas. Bring on the adventures!
