Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

30th Birthday

it was my 30th birthday and my moms 50th birthday. sister and mom had talked about a cruise a while back and i was tasked to make it happen.

we booked a princess cruise on the crowne princess to the southern carrabean. we stopped at princess cays, curacoa, and aruba. i took my dad snorkling. it was me teaching my dad how to do something. it was great.

the cruise wasnt as relaxing as going to st. lucia because it wasnt just jennifer and i but it was still good. we had 3 rooms. we saw several broadway shows and i slept through them.

the hectic about the cruise was being on a schedule. everything had a time and a place.

the good thing about the cruise was the family atmosphere. we were all able to be together.

either way, some wonderful memories and we finally have family portraits.

task done!

go to St Lucia

milwaukee air and water show

ok didnt really go for the water show.. well didnt even see the water show but the air show was off the hook. it was really hot and it was hard to see with the sportsbrella. jennifer came up with the idea of mounting the sportsbrealla straight up. that was fun.

4th of july in madison

i was a little kid when we went to our 4th of july in madison because they had F-16 flyover. the drive to madison was only an hour long and it was one of the first picnics. we had food from sams club and we played cards and it was hot but our sportsbrella helped out.

i remember going to the taste of chicago for a day trip. even though going there was hard because of the long drive, it was well worth it. it was one of the last drives with the grand prix. i remember walking up and down the taste of chicago. it was very busy but it was fun. we had perogies. i love perogies.

“I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

i dont remember actually what date i watched this movie but it was just over a month ago. it was great. it was much better than i thought it would be. i understand why this is the #1 movie on IMDB. this movie is complex and can be watched over and over again. Infact, i wouldnt mind watching this movie again and i really dont like watching movies over and over.

#7 AJ Bombers

wow. the best burger ive had in milwaukee. enough said.

see the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra:
Cirque de Symphony

the wife and i went to our first MSO show on 04/30/2011. It was awsome. Not only was the musical score great, the actual cirque performers were awsome. they were mostly solo visual performances. i liked where we sat for this show as being closer was good to see the cirque part. discovered that we can sit as far back as row S. anyther further back than that is just bad.

overall, it was a fun night
